This year's spring break was awesome! I headed to Fayettville, Texas the first weekend to race the Fayettville stage race with the team.
The first day was a double header with a 65 mile road race in the morning and a 9 mile time trial in the evening. The road race went pretty well for the whole team and we all finished really well with Jonathon Schilling coming in fourth.
The TT went well for the team as also, with all of us finishing in the top half of the field and Schilling placing top 5 again.
Sunday we had a 95 mile road race on tap. There was a break that went off early but was brought back with a little less than 20 miles to go. The race went great for the whole team from there on out and we ended up getting first and third on the stage.
Sunday night most of the team and I hopped into the team van and drove to Silver City, New Mexico to ride some of the climbs in the Tour of the Gila. When we arrived in Silver City it was pretty chilly and there was flurries in the forecast for the day. These flurries quickly escalated into a full blown ARCTIC WINTER STORM and we weren't sure we would be able to ride that day. The snow eventually let up and the whole group went and rode the time trial course. The course was great and it looks like it'll be a ton of fun to race!
The next day almost all the snow was gone and it had really warmed up. We headed out to Emory Pass to ride. The climb was really cool and is gonna be great to race up during the Gila.
On the third day we drove out and rode the Mogollon a few times. The Mogollon is the summit finish on the first stage of the Gila and will for sure cause some major time gaps before the finish!
The last day of the camp we did a pretty easy ride just out of town on the Meadow Creek climb. This was a great last ride for the camp and we had great weather for it! The whole team spent the last night of the camp playing a solid game of hide and go seek outside.
My dad picked me up the next day and I stayed with him and John Baker in their hotel room and packed our bags and bike for the drive to Phoenix the next day.
On the last day of break John, my dad, and I drove to Phoenix. Once we arrived in Phoenix John suggested we hiked up Camel Back Mountain. The hike was great and it was a great way to end my spring break!
Solid first ride on the TT course!!
The best thing to do during an ARCTIC WINTER STORM!

Spring Break
Slipstream Craddock Junior Development Team in Silver City, New Mexico |
Jordan spent some quality time with his Sliptream Craddock Junior Development Team over spring break, March 17-25. He travelled to Texas for the Fayetteville Stage Race, and then on to Silver City, New Mexico, for some recon of the Tour of Gila Stage Race.
The local Silver City newspapers wrote stories about the team's Gila Recon:
