La Primavera Lago Vista is the premier, non-stage race in Texas Bicycle Racing. Slipstream Craddock fielded a six man team for the Cat 2/3's, Imari Miller, Jonah Tannos, Jake Silverberg, Jordan Cullen, Grayson Brookshire, and last year's Day 1 winner, Noah Williams.

The team took control early on day 1, with an early break by Jordan Cullen and Jonah Tannos. This setup the team beautifully, allowing Noah Williams and Jake Silverberg to breakaway with a small group later in the race. The pair finished 1st and 2nd, with Noah repeating his win from 2012.

The team was even more dominant on day 2, with Noah Williams doubling up on the weekend, with a solo victory. Even more amazing, the team placed all six riders in the top 12 places, in an 80 rider field.

The Road to Paris Roubaix - Appreciate the Journey

Jordan received an e-mail from USA Cycling on Feb 18th, inviting him race for 2 1/2 weeks this spring, for Team USA in Belgium and France. He will be competing with 5 other elite American 17-18 year old juniors in 3 events:

24 March: Meer (Hoostraten) kermesse, Belgium

30 March- 1 April: Ster van Zuid Limburg, Belgium http://stervanzuidlimburg.be/index.php?cat=2

 7 April: Paris Roubaix, UCI NCup, France

This marks Jordan's first opportunity to race for the Junior National Team. This will be Jordan's 3rd cycling trip to Europe, after going to EuroCrossCamp in 2011-2012, and Racing in Belgium for his trade team, Slipstream Craddock last summer. We are so proud of Jordan, and wish him the best of luck!

It's far too easy to get caught up in the thought of achieving your dream, that you fail to appreciate the journey. The road to greatness is challenging, and if you focus too heavily on the final destination, you will fail to gain happiness and satisfaction from the intermediate successes along the way. If you have great day on the bike, celebrate it, and wait till tomorrow before contemplating what if means for your future.

As Jordan's father, other parents of junior cyclists often approach me and ask how they can help their child become the best they can be. I think the best advice I can give them is help their kid dream big, set intermediate goals, and appreciate the journey.

Jingle Cross 2012!

I headed back up north to Minnesota two weeks ago mainly for Thanksgiving, but also for Jingle Cross. I brought my friend and teammate Noah Williams with me as well. We were both looking forward to racing jingle cross for fun in the 2/3s race.

Jingle Cross is my favorite cross race and I have been doing it for six years now. I really enjoy the whole atmosphere there and the crazy fans. Knowing that Jingle Cross was the only cross race that I am going to do this year was a little weird after coming off of several full cross season. Noah and I both showed up with zero expectations.

The first day went pretty well. I had a lack-luster start but quickly made up places on all of the road sections. I made contact with the lone leader with half a lap to go and was feeling good but I got tangled up with a lapped rider and had to stop. I ended up second but I had a lot of fun still!

Saturday's race went even better. I had a much better start than the previous race. The rest of the race I rode very conservatively but caught the two leaders with 2 laps to go. I then recovered before attacking through the pit and getting a gap. My gap got up to 30 seconds and I held it there to the finish.

Sunday was pretty similar to Saturday's race. I had a fairly good start and rode the first two laps at a safe pace. I made contact with the front at the end of the second lap and launched an attack. I quickly got a gap of 15 seconds and I was able to ride very conservatively to the finish to win again.

I am very pleased with how all three days went! I had a ton of fun and the results were just an added bonus. Thanksgiving with my relatives was really great as well since I had not seen them in so long. I am back in Wimberly to train for a few weeks before heading back north for Christmas and New Years.

Off-season Update

I have been at the William's Racing Academy in Wimberley, Texas for 10 days now. So far it has been great! Awesome weather, riding, and a great group of guys to live with.This past weekend the Slipstream-Craddock testing camp was held here. I had never been tested before so it was a great experience for me to run through the tests to see what I could do. The camp was also a great opportunity to meet the riders who are new to the team. Not much to report aside from training and school work. I'll work on taking more pictures so I can show you guys what it is like to live and train down here!
